Some familiar faces will appear at Pilot locations across Knox County next week. Nearly 70 elected officials and media personalities will help Pilot support the United Way of Greater Knoxville during the annual Pilot Celebrity Pumpers event. These “celebrities” will be pumping gas for customers Monday through Wednesday, Oct. 7-9.

The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra Moxley Carmichael Masterworks Series presents “AN AMERICAN IN PARIS” on October 17-18. Maestro Lucas Richman conducts the Orchestra joined by guest pianist Jeffrey Biegel. The concert will take place on Thursday, October 17 and Friday, October 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Tennessee Theatre. These performances are sponsored by Thermal Label Warehouse.

Maestro Lucas Richman, Music Director of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra has announced that he will conclude his tenure with the KSO following the 2014-2015 season. While the Maestro’s current contract has him at the helm through the end of the 2013-14 season, he has agreed to continue on with the organization for one additional season, extending his leadership through the 2014-15 season-his 12th with the orchestra.

For the third consecutive year, the South College nursing program boasts a 100 percent pass rate for the NCLEX-RN licensure exam. It is the only program in the state to achieve a perfect record over that time period.

Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation (KCDC) Chief Operating Officer Art Cate was recently appointed by Governor Bill Haslam to the Tennessee State Workforce Development Board for a two-year term beginning in 2013.
