High school robotics teams have been building and programming robots since the start of 2015 in hopes of a first-place finish in this year’s recycling-themed challenge at the Knoxville Convention Center for Tennessee’s largest robotics competition.

Messer Construction Co. recently named craft force manager Todd Sasser its Knoxville Region 2014 Community Service Award recipient in recognition of his volunteer work throughout East Tennessee.

A team of medical specialists worked in clockwork precision at Gastrointestinal Associates on March 28 to provide free, and potentially lifesaving, screening colonoscopies to 42 patients in the program’s sixth year of helping the East Tennessee community.

More than 7,750 runners participated in the race events at the 2015 Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon, which took place March 28-29 in Knoxville, Tennessee. In its 11th year, the Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon is the largest competitive road race in East Tennessee.

Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation (KCDC) Board of Commissioners voted today at its monthly meeting to appoint Art Cate as executive director of the public housing and redevelopment agency for the City of Knoxville and Knox County. Cate has served as KCDC’s chief operating officer since 2001.
