To help battle Tennessee’s high incidence of fire deaths, Rural/Metro is reminding homeowners to change the battery in their smoke alarms when Daylight Savings Time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3. When you set your clocks back one hour, don’t forget to also replace your smoke alarm battery.

Art Cate, chief operating officer at Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation (KCDC), was recently elected president of the North Knoxville Business & Professional Association at the organization’s monthly meeting. The year-long term begins in January 2014.

Woods was honored for the creation and implementation of an innovative firefighting training program integrated into the curriculum of South-Doyle High School. The Insurance Professionals of Greater Knoxville (IPGK) has named Rural/Metro Lieutenant Brian Woods as the Firefighter of the Year for the Knoxville area.
