Locally owned Home Federal Bank continues its tradition of community support by sponsoring the Knoxville Museum of Art’s free admission throughout the month of July.

Children have their own way of coping with the loss of a loved one, and one of those methods is now being shared at the Knoxville Museum of Art. Currently on display in the museum’s education gallery are eight memorial quilts created by local youth to help them in the grieving process.

The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra will host the KSO 30th Annual Free Pilot Flying J Independence Day Concert on July 4, 2014 at World’s Fair Park at 8:00 p.m. Maestro Lucas Richman will conduct the orchestra in this 30th annual concert as part of the City of Knoxville’s Festival on the Fourth.

Sparklers, firecrackers and roman candles are a traditional part of Fourth of July and Independence Day celebrations and gatherings. But fireworks also are dangerous explosives that cause millions of dollars in property damage and nearly 10,000 emergency room visits nationally each year. Fireworks also are illegal in many counties, including Knox County.

Kristi Sowards, sales manager at the Knoxville Convention Center, has received a prestigious industry award from the Tennessee Chapter of Meeting Professionals International (MPI).

Hannah Parker, a native of Knoxville and former aide to Gov. Bill Haslam, has joined Moxley Carmichael as an account executive. Before joining Moxley Carmichael, Parker most recently served in the Tennessee governor’s administration as deputy for operations. In that role, she helped managed internal communications for the governor’s staff and also provided oversight of Haslam’s schedule, travel and advance team.
