Next Thursday and Friday, the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra will continue its Moxley Carmichael Masterworks Series with music of Beethoven & Bruch, conducted by Maestro Aram Demirjian, KSO Music Director Candidate, and guest violinist Philippe Quint performing Burch’s Violin Concerto No. 1. The concert will take place on Thursday, January 21 and Friday, January 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Tennessee Theatre.

The Knoxville Symphony Chamber Orchestra will be featured in A Night with the Arts: A Celebration Concert in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 18 at 6:00 p.m. at the Tennessee Theatre. This concert, free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Commission of Greater Knoxville, TVA with support from Knox County Commissioners Ed Brantley, Sam McKenzie, and Bob Thomas.

The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra will perform Disney Fantasia Live in Concert, part of the Knoxville News Sentinel Pops Series. Guest conductor Sarah Hicks will conduct the KSO while the coinciding images appear on screen. The concert will take place on Saturday, January 16 at 8:00 p.m. at the Civic Auditorium and is sponsored by Twin City Dealerships. Tickets range from $35 – $89. View seats and purchase tickets. Patrons can still buy the entire KSO Pops Series (five concerts for just $105).

The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra presents the 29th Annual Clayton Holiday Concert on December 18, 19 & 20 at the Knoxville Civic Auditorium. Maestro James Fellenbaum conducts the Orchestra and special guests for “An Appalachian Christmas.”

Next week, the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra will continue its Moxley Carmichael Masterworks Series with Maestro Shizuo Kuwahara, a KSO music director candidate, as he conducts the orchestra in Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1, featuring pianist Stewart Goodyear.

The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra will perform for more than 8,500 elementary students as part of its annual series of five Young People’s Concerts on October 28-30 at the Knoxville Civic Auditorium. “Picture This!” is an educational program designed for students in 3rd through 5th grades. The Sheena McCall Young People’s Concerts are October 28-29 at 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. and October 30 at 9:30 a.m. The 9:30 a.m. shows offer an excellent photo & video opportunity.

In two weeks, the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra will continue its Moxley Carmichael Masterworks Series with Maestro Marcelo Lehninger, KSO Music Director Candidate, as he conducts the Orchestra in Respighi’s Pines of Rome. The concert will take place on Thursday, October 22 and Friday, October 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Tennessee Theatre. These performances are sponsored by UT Federal Credit Union and Harper Auto Square.

Members of the KSO will perform Gabriel Lefkowitz & Friends, kicking off the KSO Merchant & Gould Concertmaster Series. This concert will take place on Wednesday, October 14 and Friday, October 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the Knoxville Museum of Art. These performances are sponsored by American Piano Gallery and the Knoxville Museum of Art.

The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra has hired Jeffrey J. Taylor as the new Development Manager to support the Director of Development and manage the KSO’s Annual Fund. Mr. Taylor comes with experience in nonprofit management, fundraising and development, marketing and grant writing. He joined the KSO staff in late summer.

In just three weeks, the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra will kick off its 80th season with American Masters: Gershwin & Bernstein. KSO Resident Conductor James Fellenbaum conducts the Orchestra, joined by guest pianist Sean Chen for a spectacular season opener. The concert will take place on Thursday, September 17 and Friday, September 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Tennessee Theatre. These performances are sponsored by Twin City Dealerships.
