Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley has named Johnson City-native Bart McFadden as its new president and CEO.

Though the Northwest Middle School Boys & Girls Club is only two months old, its rapid growth has shown the evident need for programming at the community school. Approximately 85 students attend the club every day with a total enrollment of 225.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley is launching a search for the organization’s next leader. Current President and CEO Lisa Hurst has accepted the position of president and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale in Arizona.

Thanks to fundraising efforts from the “Our Kids, Our Future Campaign,” the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley broke ground on facilities that will allow the organization to serve more kids, more often, in a more meaningful way.

Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian in history with 22 medals, coached the swim team at Haslam Family University Club today. He also participated in an announcement that the new pool planned for the facility will be named in honor of Knox County Juvenile Court Judge Tim Irwin.

Today, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley announced the “Our Kids, Our Future” campaign, a $14 million fundraising effort that will allow the organization to serve more kids, more often, in a more meaningful way.

Children in the Carter community have been enjoying summer break, but the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley has been hard at work transforming an old school into a new club.

Today, Stroupe led a group of Webb School student tutors to the Caswell Avenue club for the annual year-end party with Boys & Girls Club kids in the gym at the old facility. In that gym where Stroupe learned many life lessons, Merrill Lynch’s Dugan McLaughlin, co-chair of the “Our Kids, Our Future” campaign told the young people that when the gym is rebuilt as part of a new building, the floor will be named for Stroupe.
