Diamond Legends, a youth baseball team in Knoxville, has received a $1,000 sponsorship from U.S. Cellular’s Community Connections program to help pay for team expenses. The Community Connections program provides sponsorship support to youth groups such as Little League Baseball teams, marching bands, youth cheer squads and a variety of other groups.
Diamond Legends signed up on U.S. Cellular’s website, and within 14 days rallied their friends, families and supporters to complete online activities that earned them the money.
“Groups like Diamond Legends provide meaningful experiences for youth in our community every day,” said Nathan Waddell, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in East Tennessee. “We’re proud to be able to support these young players and their passion for baseball and it’s inspiring to see the community back them through this program and beyond.”
“We believe everyone on Diamond Legends has a bright future, on and off the field, and we strive to develop baseball skills as well as character for our players,” Coach Tim Abshagen said. “We are grateful to the Community Connections program for providing a fun and interactive way for our community to support us.”
