Reduced Adoption Fees for Cats and Kittens Offered through July
It’s the summer of cats here in Knoxville. With an overwhelming number of adoptable felines at the shelter, Young-Williams Animal Center is reducing adoption fees for cats and kittens through the month of July.
Through July 31, kittens can be adopted for $50, adult cats for $25 and senior cats for $10. Regular adoption fees are $150 for kittens, $75 for adult cats and $50 for senior cats.
“We don’t want the initial cost of adoption to prevent families and individuals from opening their hearts and homes to a loving pet,” Young-Williams Animal Center CEO Jeff Ashin said. “We hope East Tennesseans will be inspired to adopt when the need for homes is at its greatest.”
Young-Williams Animal Center took in 333 adult cats and 458 kittens in June, which is a drastic increase from February when the center took in 215 adult cats and only 12 kittens.
“These numbers clearly illustrate the staggering results of the spring mating season caused by the lack of cats that are spayed or neutered,” Ashin said. “We’re at critical mass right now and don’t have the space available for any additional cats and kittens that will continue to arrive daily as strays or surrendered pets.”
Every adopted cat or kitten will receive the services covered by the normal adoption fees, which include a veterinary physical exam, spay/neuter surgery, some standard vaccinations, a microchip with registration and more.
“We encourage you to consider adoption, and if you already own a cat that has not been spayed or neutered, please contact us,” Ashin said. “We offer low-cost spay/neuter services for those who qualify, and by altering your pet, you could help prevent the births of thousands of kittens for which there are simply not enough homes.”
To adopt, please visit the two conveniently located Knoxville adoption facilities: Young-Williams Animal Center at 3201 Division Street and Young-Williams Animal Village at 6400 Kingston Pike. To learn more about Spay/Neuter Solutions, call 865-215-6677.
