The Bed Store held a grand opening of its new location in West Knoxville and announced a name, image and likeness (NIL) relationship with Vols basketball player Zakai Zeigler.
The Bed Store founder and CEO Roger Cunningham with his two Tuck Pup dogs, Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs and Zeigler attended the Aug. 10 event. The Sports Animal 99.1 broadcasted live from the location with Josh Ward and Jayson Swain.
“This partnership with a bona-fide Vols basketball star like Zakai felt like a natural fit,” Cunningham said. “At The Bed Store, we have the best selection of mattresses and now we also have the best partnership as we open the doors of our new location in Knoxville.”
The Bed Store unveiled the ZZ Mattress, which is a royalty and direct product partnership, so Zeigler will earn money for each mattress sold.
“I want to thank The Bed Store for this partnership, and I am excited for fans to select my ZZ Mattress for their sleep needs,” Zeigler said. “As an athlete, I know how important it is to get a good night’s sleep. The Bed Store’s mission is to offer the best customer experience for each person who walks through the doors. As an athlete, I also do my best every day on campus and on the court to give my all for Tennessee.”
Zeigler, a 5-9 point guard from Long Island, New York, will enter his third season with the Vols basketball team and has become beloved in Knoxville for his fearless play, big heart, clutch shots and pinpoint passes.
The Bed Store moved to The Gallery of Knoxville with an expanded location at 7240 Kingston Pike Suite 100, just a few stoplights away from the former location. Cunningham opened the first Bed Store in 1992, and the business now has seven total stores in East Tennessee.
The new location is the largest mattress store in Knoxville and is designed to provide high-quality sleep products and excellent customer service.
“This location will allow The Bed Store to provide more mattresses to try out, a better stock of our favorites and new customer opportunities not featured at the prior location,” Cunningham said. “With this move, we now have more square feet to work with so all customers are guaranteed space and options when envisioning and choosing the perfect mattress for them.”
“It’s businesses like The Bed Store and business leaders like Roger Cunningham that make Knox County the vibrant and attractive community that it is,” Jacobs said. “I’m encouraged to see these folks partnering with and supporting our fantastic local student athletes.”
The Bed Store is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. The ZZ Mattress is available now.
