Sweet P’s Barbeque has several events planned for the month of August as summer draws to a close. The events for the two locations include:
- “Taste ‘n’ Toast” to support Guardians for Garrett – Wednesday, Aug. 17, 5-9 p.m.; Downtown Dive, 410 W. Jackson Ave.
This month’s “Taste ‘n’ Toast” event will support Guardians for Garrett, with $5 of every specially created meal donated to support the care of Garrett Jablonski, a local 7-year-old living with Sanfilippo syndrome, a rare, incurable metabolism disorder that diminishes a child’s mental and physical function over time.
The Hawaiian luau-themed event will feature a $15 menu that includes Huli-huli chicken, Keo pork, mango vinaigrette super slaw and luau potato salad. Kona Brewing Company will provide beer pairings.
- 8th Annual Smokin’ Day Festival – Saturday, Aug. 20, 2-8 p.m.; Soul House, 3725 Maryville Pike
Sweet P’s Barbeque & Soul House is hosting its 8th annual Smokin’ Day Festival, a free day of live music at its South Knoxville location. Throughout the day, regional blues, folks and soul musicians will play inside and outside the restaurant, including:
- Laura Blackley, 2 p.m.
- Kevin Abernathy Band, 3:30 p.m.
- Beth McKee, 5 p.m.
- Cedric Burnside, 6:30 p.m.
An all-you-can-eat option for $25 that includes, pork, chicken quarters, mac n’ cheese, pinto beans, potato salad, cole slaw, greens n’ things and banana pudding. The special will be available for guests who want to stay for the full day of concerts.
- TCWN Dragon Boat Festival – Saturday, Aug. 27, at Volunteer Landing
Sweet P’s is the official event sponsor providing catering of barbecue and beer for participating teams. The event, held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., benefits the Tennessee Clean Water Network.
