Renovated Location Offers New Concept in Healthcare
An innovative approach to healthcare with a focus on convenience, ease of check-in and scheduling is underway in the Karns community. Summit Medical Group re-launches its Karns practice site, 7715 Oak Ridge Hwy, Knoxville, with a renovated healthcare facility offering services from pediatrics to geriatrics.
Summit Medical Group at Karns’ healthcare team is led by Nurse Practitioner (NP) Brian Stanley who will champion a patient-friendly team dedicated to providing comprehensive healthcare. He will serve as the primary care provider. Stanley, formerly with Summit’s Hospitalist Services division, Statcare, is a board-certified family practice nurse practitioner with a Master of Science Degree in Nursing from East Tennessee State University.
As the NP at Karns, Stanley will maximize diagnostic and therapeutic resources for optimum patient outcomes. Dr. John Carroll, a Summit physician with Hardin Valley Medical Center, will serve as the supervisory physician for Karns.
To schedule an appointment with NP Stanley, call (865) 694-0376. The practice is open Monday-Friday, 8 am – 5 pm, closed Saturday and Sunday.
Nurse Practitioners: Skilled Care; Just for You
Midlevel Practitioners, including Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, are valued and important members of the care team at Summit. These highly trained medical professionals act as an extension of your primary care physician and can provide direct acute and chronic care for patients. They can take health histories and provide complete physical examinations; diagnose and treat many common acute and chronic problems; interpret laboratory results and X-rays; prescribe and manage medications and other therapies; provide health teaching and supportive counseling with an emphasis on prevention of illness and health maintenance; and refer patients to other health professionals as needed. All Midlevel Practitioners within Summit work under the supervision of, and with direction from, a Summit physician.
What is a Nurse Practitioner?
Nurse practitioners (NPs) are registered nurses with advanced education and clinical training, to provide an expanded range of clinical services. NPs complete graduate-level education preparation that leads to a Master’s degree. NPs must pass the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Program National Certification Examination. This competency-based examination is reflective of Nurse Practitioner knowledge and expertise. NPs recertify every five years through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
