Tim Young

Young has devoted several years to getting Summit Strategic Solutions up and running on behalf of Summit Medical Group, at which he previously served as CEO for 20 years. He plans to use his industry-leading knowledge of health care’s shift from fee for service to value-based care to advise other organizations undergoing such transformations. He plans to announce more details about his new position in the near future.

To assist in the transition, Young will remain with Summit Strategic Solutions as CEO through June 30, 2016. During this time, Chief Science & Innovation Officer Jack Kam will work with Young and serve as Executive Transition Leader. Employees at Summit Strategic Solutions will continue in their current roles.

A search for a new CEO is planned in the near future.

“The past several years have been tremendously exciting as we developed an organization that is positioned on the forefront of change in health care,” Young said. “I have been able to establish contacts throughout the health care industry that will be tremendously useful to Summit Strategic Solutions. I am pursuing the new role because it will give me a wider opportunity to personally help build the bold, innovative and compelling health care solutions for today’s consumers.

“Summit Strategic Solutions is in sound shape, and we have the talent, ability and creativity to continue to develop and implement the right models for health care consumers. I appreciate the opportunity Summit Medical Group gave me to carry out this vision.”

Summit Medical GroupDr. Wesley Dean, chairman of Healthcaring Ventures, parent company of Summit Strategic Solutions, said: “We appreciate Tim’s 21 years of service to Summit Medical Group and Summit Strategic Solutions and wish him well on his new endeavor. During his time at Summit, the organization has grown and achieved a number of milestones.

“Summit Medical Group is one of the largest primary care organizations in the region with more than 200 physicians and 100 advanced practitioners in 12 East Tennessee counties. Most importantly, Summit provides health care services to more than 270,000 patients, averaging 81,000 encounters each month. Summit Medical Group launched Summit Strategic Solutions to develop health care delivery systems designed specifically for consumers with the aim of transforming the way health care is provided. All current partnerships and commitments with Summit Strategic Solutions remain intact, and the services provided by Summit Strategic Solutions continue, Dean said.
