South College has earned the 2022-2023 Military Spouse Friendly® School designation for the institution’s efforts to support education for spouses of service members.

“Since 2016, we’ve been recognized for our support of members of the military, and this new recognition of spouse support is quite an honor,” South College Chancellor Steve South said. “We will continue our commitment to offering programs and support for our military-connected students, veterans, and their families who have sacrificed so much in service to our country.”

South College has been a longtime advocate for veterans and supporter of the U.S. military. The South College Military Grant program provides tuition benefits to both veterans and spouses of veterans with honorable discharge status; active duty military and spouses; and dependents who are eligible for U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs educational benefits. The institution also participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program, which helps cover eligible participants’ tuition not covered by the Post-9/11 GI Bill.

South College, based in Knoxville, Tennessee, also has campuses in Nashville, Tennessee; Atlanta, Georgia; Asheville, North Carolina; Indianapolis, Indiana; and Orlando, Florida, and offers online classes and programs.

The Military Spouse Friendly® Schools list is created each year based on extensive research using public and proprietary data sources. South College is one of 346 Military Spouse Friendly® Schools across the country.

A notification from the Military Friendly® organization notes that Military Spouse Friendly® Schools “create sustainable and meaningful education paths for military spouses including constructing admissions, retention, career counseling, and mentoring programs to help alleviate the difficulties faced by military spouses. There are flexible learning options and degree continuation programs that are designed to accommodate deployments and relocation.”
