South College promotes Heatherly and Skinner to key leadership positions

Neil Heatherly named Lonas campus president; Dr. Tiffany Skinner named dean, school of nursing

South College has promoted Neil Heatherly to president of its main campus on Lonas Drive in Knoxville, and Dr. Tiffany Skinner to serve as dean of the school of nursing across the institution’s footprint.

South College, a multi-campus institution founded in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1882, offers 100-plus programs and concentrations taught at eight physical campuses and online.

“Mr. Heatherly and Dr. Skinner have a combined 50 years of experience that will serve both students and the community,” South College Chancellor Stephen A. South said. “Since joining South College’s nursing leadership in 2020, Dr. Skinner has helped improve the trajectory of key metrics for the nursing programs, and we anticipate that positive momentum to continue. Mr. Heatherly is a keen healthcare strategist whose skills perfectly convey to the leadership needs at our main campus, ensuring the integrity of our existing programs and overseeing development based on emerging needs. We congratulate both on these deserved promotions.”

Heatherly joined South College in 2022 as vice president of healthcare strategies. He previously served in healthcare leadership roles, most recently as president and chief administrative officer of Parkwest Medical Center. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from University of Tennessee and Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Vanderbilt University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE®).

Dr. Tiffany Skinner
South College

Skinner joined South College in 2018 as assistant professor of nursing and was elevated to associate dean of nursing in 2020. She previously served in various nurse practitioner, education, and RN roles at local medical centers. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from East Tennessee State University, a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from University of Tennessee, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Walden University.

“My vision is highly aligned with that of South College’s mission focusing on community needs, service, scholarship and excellence. I believe our future success is limitless and that South College will be nursing school of choice for the region,” Skinner said. “I am honored to be named dean of nursing and excited to work alongside this amazing team of leaders, faculty and students.”

South College is currently enrolling for multiple programs, offered on-campus and online.
