South College Orlando has a new expanded campus home and hosted officials, healthcare partners and community leaders on Aug. 10 for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house.
South College is a multi-campus institution, founded in Knoxville, Tennessee, in 1882. The college offers 100-plus programs and concentrations taught at eight physical campuses and online.
“This community has welcomed South College Orlando, and we are fortunate to reach a milestone in expansion with a new campus that allows us to educate more students who will positively impact the healthcare community in this region,” South College Chancellor Stephen A. South said. “We strive to help students and communities thrive, and today we celebrate with an eye to the future as we fine tune and develop programs at the intersection of our expertise and market needs.”
The Orlando campus opened in 2021 and has doubled its original program offerings which now includes 15 healthcare-related certificate, associate, and bachelor’s programs with areas of focus in nursing, surgical technology, medical assisting, imaging science, and health science.
The new campus is located at 6649 Westwood Blvd., Suite 100, in Orlando and is currently enrolling students for all programs.
“South College Orlando strives to prepare students to become successful healthcare practitioners through an intentional blend of excellent instruction in labs, classrooms and outside clinical locations, and abundant student support services,” Orlando Campus President Jim McCoy said. “My hope is that our beautiful new facility will foster the needs of students so that they may improve the community as trained practitioners. Today is a great day to celebrate the progress we’ve made in two years since joining the Orlando community.”
South College Orlando offers programs and courses both on-campus and online, depending on the program. Students who qualify for financial aid have access to a range of programs. The institution also offers student and career services. For more information about South College Orlando, call 407-447-6900 or visit south.edu.
