South College will offer three Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) pathways after launching new concentrations in echocardiography and vascular imaging at its Marietta campus.
The new echocardiography and vascular concentrations join abdomen and obstetrics/gynecology within the Associate of Science (AS) in Diagnostic Medical Sonography program, which prepares students to use ultrasound equipment in laboratory settings, gain clinical experience at medical facilities and pursue professional certification.

The vascular concentration at Marietta will begin in the fall with cohorts in all concentrations starting in spring 2027.
In addition, the Marietta campus, which opened in late 2025, will celebrate the graduation of its first AS in Nursing cohort at the end of summer; first Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) cohort at the end of fall; and first Surgical Technology cohort at the end of fall. The first cohorts for the Radiography (RAD) and DMS degree programs will graduate at the end of winter 2027.
“The healthcare sector in Georgia continues to grow, and medical facilities need well-trained and certified practitioners,” said Josh Huffaker, who is president of the Marietta and Atlanta campuses for South College. “We continue to add academic programs that can help meet that demand with a high-quality education to prepare students for the workforce. These programs can lead to immediate entry-level opportunities and also provide the base for additional education for advanced professions in healthcare.”
According to WorkSource Metro Atlanta, healthcare is the largest growing industry in the U.S., the Atlanta Metro region is projected to be even faster than the national average, multiple entry-level jobs are available that don’t require a bachelor’s degree to be hired, and wages come with good benefits.

Located at 1850 Parkway Place, the Marietta campus offers a range of healthcare-focused degree and certificate programs, including Health Science with focuses in Pre-Nursing, Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-Physical Therapy and Pre-Physician Assistant, Bachelor of Science in Nursing in-person traditional and accelerated and Hybrid/Online; Licensed Practical Nurse Certificate and more.
South College established its Atlanta campus in 2018. The Marietta campus expanded South College’s reach in Georgia to serve more students and employers with a variety of healthcare degree and certificate programs. New cohorts will also start in Atlanta in the DMS area in winter 2027.
