South College Indianapolis will launch an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program after earning initial approval by the Indiana State Board of Nursing.

Students will work to build a strong academic foundation and learn fundamental skills required of a nurse generalist, including the basics of medical care, critical thinking, interpersonal skills and technical competence required for taking the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) exam.
With this approval, South College can now accept the first cohort into the ASN program. The next term offering prerequisite courses for the ASN program begins in April 2025 and enrollment is now open. Upon completion, graduates may continue their education by pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
“A priority at South College is to add relevant programs that directly address workforce needs,” said Courtney Martin Sechler, president of the Indianapolis campus. “The healthcare industry needs well-trained and qualified practitioners, and an ASN program allows students to pursue workforce opportunities even faster. Completion of the program also sets up students to choose to pursue higher levels of education to advance their professional opportunities.”
Sechler, who became president in 2024 after serving as a campus leader at South College Pittsburgh, is overseeing a surge of growth and innovation at Indianapolis, which is expanding its academic offerings and strengthening ties to the local community.
South College offers multiple healthcare programs from certificate to doctoral levels across several disciplines and students who qualify for financial aid have access to a range of programs as do members of the U.S. military, veterans and their families.
