South College has expanded its Associate of Science in Accounting program to offer a concentration in Tax Preparation. The program is available to students via the college’s online platform, as well as at its Knoxville, Tennessee campus.
“The roots of South College from our 1882 founding are in business education, and our institution has a long history of offering quality business programs,” South College Chancellor Steve South said. “Adding a tax preparation concentration opens more doors for students, and we want to serve students by offering updated and relevant programs.”
The Associate of Science in Accounting with a Concentration in Tax Preparation program is designed to teach modern accounting and tax preparation methods with classes covering an array of accounting and business topics. Classes within the concentration are intended to help prepare students to sit for the IRS Enrolled Agent exams. The IRS Enrolled Agent certification is the highest credential awarded by the IRS and enables individuals to represent taxpayers before the IRS for audits, appeals, collections, and other tax matters.
South College offers student and career services and instructors with relevant real-world experience. Students have access to a range of financial aid programs for those who qualify, including the South College Promise Grant, Tennessee Promise Scholarship, HOPE Scholarship, and Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program.
The South College School of Business and Technology has received specialized accreditation for its business programs through the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE).
