“The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is doing vital work to serve the entire diabetic community in East Tennesee, and we are thankful to our loyal and compassionate customers for donating to this cause,” said Dan Fleming, vice president of operations for Pilot Convenience Stores.

The funds were raised through the sale of paper sneakers, which were sold at Knoxville-area Pilot convenience store locations. The funds will be used to help adults and children in East Tennessee who deal with type 1 diabetes. JDRF supports a variety of services, including local outreach and counseling, raising awareness and funding national research to find a cure.

“The Pilot donation will fund support services and care kits for the many families and individuals throughout East Tennessee who are affected by type 1 diabetes,” said Christine Cloninger, development manager for the East Tennessee chapter of JDRF. “We are so grateful to Pilot and every customer who bought a paper sneaker.”
