Could your mobile device put Cupid out of business?
U.S. Cellular provides mobile Valentine’s Day recommendations.
Move over, Cupid! In today’s high-tech society as mobile devices have become an integral part of our lives, mobile devices are doing more to boost romance around Valentine’s Day than even Cupid himself ever could!
According to the 2013 National Federation Retail Survey, almost half of the population (40 percent) used their mobile devices to research and purchase their Valentine’s gifts. Beyond Valentine’s Day, more than a third of U.S. Cellular customers (35 percent) believe their mobile devices are improving their relationships with their significant other, according to a U.S. Cellular survey1.
“People are having a love affair with their mobile devices. On Valentine’s Day, and every day, we rely on our smartphones and tablets to help our relationships, by making dinner reservations, sending flowers, buying gifts, sending love notes, as well as calling and texting our loved ones,” said Jack Brundige, Director of Sales for U.S. Cellular in Tennessee. “Whether their beloved is across the table or across the country, people are using their smartphones and tablets to stay connected.”
In honor of Valentine’s Day, U.S. Cellular offers the following tips, apps and gadgets that will help keep your love thriving:
Celebrate your coupled status. The Couple app is a great way for couples to stay in sync. There are a variety of features, from practical (shared calendars, reminders and to do lists) to cute (the “thumbkiss” option lets couples touch their screens and leave thumbprint “kisses” behind). Additionally, this app allows couples to build a private timeline of their special moments, allowing them to collect the various moments that make their romance so sweet.
Serve up romance. Everyone knows that the way to your love’s heart is through their stomach! Create a romantic and delicious night in, with BlueApron.com, an online company that delivers fresh, tasty, healthy ingredients to cook “fancy” meals at home right to your door. Access the service from your mobile device and they’ll deliver all the ingredients you’ll need to cook an amazing meal, such as chili-rubbed steaks or Provencal fish stew. And, since each meal takes only 35 minutes or less to prepare, you won’t spend your entire evening in the kitchen.
Enjoy a romantic face-to-face chat. Don’t miss those special moments with loved ones, especially if you can’t be together on Valentine’s Day. Long-distance loves can feel connected during a chat via the Skype app. Voice and video calls are free on Skype, whether your loved one has a smartphone, tablet or computer.
Meet a mate. Single on Valentine’s Day? Online dating has gone mobile, making it easier to review singles’ profiles, communicate with them and arrange meetings. There’s a wide, and growing, assortment of dating apps, including Match.com, the world’s largest subscription-based, online dating service, where you can to get information on other singles who are looking to meet someone.
“Cutting edge mobile devices like the Apple iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c can help all couples enhance their romance, boost their communication, stay better connected and have more fun together,” Brundige added. “Smartphones and tablets may even put Cupid out of business.”
Get quick access to these apps in the Apple App Store or in Google Play at home or on-the-go on the 4G LTE network, which has speeds up to 10 times faster than 3G.
4G LTE service provided through King Street Wireless, a partner of U.S. Cellular. LTE is a trademark of ETSI.
¹ Between April 1-5, 2013, a total of 527 online interviews were conducted among U.S. Cellular post-paid customers by Consumer Insights, in partnership with Directions Research Inc.
