Messer Construction Co. has promoted Kyle McDonald to environmental, health and safety (EH&S) executive in Messer’s southern region offices.

McDonald joined Messer in 2002 as a co-op while studying environmental health science at Ohio University and relocated to Knoxville in 2007. A certified safety professional (CSP), McDonald is responsible for safety operations in Messer’s region offices in Knoxville and Nashville, Tennessee; Lexington and Louisville, Kentucky; and Charlotte, North Carolina.

McDonald’s project experience includes such high-profile projects in Tennessee as the $38 million Clayton Center for the Arts in Maryville and Middle Tennessee State University’s $65 million Student Union Building in Murfreesboro.

“Because of our success in making safety a core cultural value rather than an ever-shifting priority, Messer is consistently recognized as a safety leader among our industry peers,” said Allen Begley, senior vice president for Messer. “Kyle embraces that culture and shares our commitment to safeguarding the health and safety of people on or near our jobsites. We are glad to have him on our team.”

An active community volunteer, McDonald donates his time and talent to Knoxville Holiday Canstruction, a competition featuring art sculptures built of canned foods and benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee; Rebuilding Together Knoxville, a local chapter of the national organization that provides free rehabilitation and critical repairs, including disability accommodations, to the homes of low-income residents; and the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. He serves on the board of the Boys & Girls Club of Halls/Powell.

McDonald resides in Rocky Hill with wife Jessica and children Liam and Benjamin.
