Jun. 21, 2017

Attendees can register to vote during June 29 event at Knoxville Expo Center

Attendees can register to vote, learn about their district and meet candidates running in local elections during the Knoxville and Knox County Candidate Expo on Thursday, June 29, from 4:30-8:30 p.m.

The event, which will be held at the Knoxville Expo Center, 5441 Clinton Highway, is free and open to the public.

The Knox County Election Commission will be on-site to conduct a voter registration drive from 4:30-6 p.m. and will also assist attendees who need information about their voting district.

“This event is important for both attendees and candidates,” said Tim Graham, CEO of Graham Corporation, which owns the Knoxville Expo Center. “Not only do attendees get to meet the candidates, but the candidates also can come out and meet the people they hope to represent and gain a better understanding of community concerns in their district.”

Candidates have until June 22 to register by emailing [email protected] or calling 865-686-3200. A 10×10 booth, 8-foot table and two chairs will be provided to candidates, who also are welcome to bring additional items, including signs and giveaways.

The event is sponsored by Graham Corporation, Moxley Carmichael and the Knoxville Expo Center.
