Thompson earned the prestigious recognition based on her 2016 sales volume, which included 130 closed transactions. Thompson’s sales placed her in the top 1 percent of more than 1.25 million Realtors nationwide.

“We congratulate Nikitia on this honor and appreciate her business expertise on the KUB Board of Commissioners,” KUB President and CEO Mintha Roach said.

Thompson, who often works with first-time homeowners, said the award was particularly meaningful for her.

“It’s even more special to me, because I know that many of these clients were first-time homeowners, something that has been a particular focus for my firm,” Thompson said. “It’s also incredibly gratifying to help clients find their dream homes and sell their properties quickly and for the highest price possible.”

Thompson is the owner and principal broker of Nikitia Thompson Realty, which she operates in partnership with Realty Executives Associates. A degreed engineer, Thompson worked as a project manager before finding her true passion in real estate. She serves the East Tennessee market, specializing as a listing broker for HUD homes. She also is a certified Freddie Mac credit counselor and a property manager for rentals in the area.

An active community volunteer, Thompson was a member of Leadership Knoxville Class of 2015 and serves on several local nonprofit boards. She has been a KUB board member since January 2004. Thompson also volunteers at the Knoxville Area Urban League, supporting its monthly first-time homeownership course.

In 2015, Thompson was named Omega Psi Phi Fraternity’s Citizen of the Year. In 2016, she was a YWCA Tribute to Women honoree in the business and professional leadership category and also earned the Realty Executives Associates Diamond Award.

Thompson and her husband, LeRoy, have three adult children, Brooke, Dezmond and Tionna.
