For the fourth consecutive year, Knoxville Orthopaedic Surgery Center (KOSC) has been named a Leapfrog Top Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). The facility is one of only 31 surgery centers selected nationally for the competitive award, which recognizes the highest patient safety standards.
Ambulatory surgery centers are premium health care facilities that provide outpatient procedures. The quality of patient care across multiple areas of ASC performance is considered in identifying award winners, including staffing, infection rates, practices for safer surgery and error prevention.

Leapfrog’s Top ASC award was first given in 2021 to acknowledge top performers verified by the Leapfrog ASC Survey. The award was presented by The Leapfrog Group, a national watchdog organization of employers and other purchasers widely respected as the strictest standard-setters for health care safety and quality.
KOSC is an ASC accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), and where the surgeons of Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic (KOC) have operated since 2010.

A total of 31 ASCs across the United States were selected as Top ASCs, representing nine states and a variety of specialists, including orthopaedics. In addition to being one in a select group of top ASCs, KOSC is the only recognized surgery center from the state of Tennessee.

Over the past decade, the orthopaedic-only ambulatory surgery center has experienced growth in outpatient procedures of more than 244 percent for surgeries, total joint replacements and interventional spine procedures.
