For the second time in three years, Highway Transport has earned the Responsible Care® Partner of the Year Award, which the American Chemistry Council (ACC) presented today during its virtual Responsible Care® and Sustainability Conference.
Responsible Care® is the chemical manufacturing industry’s environmental, health, safety and security performance initiative. The 2021 Partner of the Year Award recognizes an ACC partner with superb performance and safety records in the distribution, transportation, storage, use, treatment, disposal and sales and marketing of chemicals.
“To be recognized as Responsible Care® Partner of the Year twice in three years is an honor and reflects the level of commitment displayed by our family of employees and drivers,” said Rick Lusby, Highway Transport’s vice president of safety. “Being a leading example of safety in an industry where responsibility matters is an emphasis for Highway Transport. As we continue to grow and expand our services and solutions, safety always will be our foundation.”
Highway Transport became a Responsible Care® Partner in 2005 and previously was recognized as Partner of the Year in 2019, just after the bulk chemical transportation company celebrated 70 years of service and safety in 2018.
The ACC includes 97 Responsible Care® Partner Companies who are committed to open and transparent safety reporting and undergo mandatory audits at their headquarters and facilities to verify performance.
“Our promise to our customers, employees and the open road is not just chemical transportation,” Highway Transport President and CFO Marshall Franklin said. “It is an unwavering dedication to safety, service, community and sustainability. We are committed to providing transparency, whether that is providing customers access to location and temperature monitoring in real time through TempTrack™ or safety performance reporting through Responsible Care®.”
For more than 30 years, Responsible Care® ACC Partner companies have significantly enhanced their performance and improve the health and safety of their employees, the communities in which they operate and the environment as a whole.
Responsible Care® is a global initiative that began in Canada in 1984, was enacted by the U.S. chemical industry in 1988, and today is practiced in 68 economies around the world.
