Girl Scouts of Southern Appalachians is preparing for an exciting season of summer camps designed to inspire confidence and connection. From “Pirates and Mermaids,” to “Ultimate Scout,” Girl Scouts’ Summer Camp programs offer a summer packed with themed adventure, empowerment and self-discovery.
“Summer camp is a powerful experience where girls can try new things, connect with peers and grow as individuals,” said Lynne Fugate, CEO of the Girl Scout Council of Southern Appalachians (GSCSA). “Girl Scout camps leave lasting memories that go far beyond traditional camp activities; they help build confidence, independence and lifelong friendships.”
From hands-on skill building to creative crafts, this year’s Girl Scout camps offer something for every interest and experience level, from Daisies to Seniors and Ambassadors. Camp favorites returning this year include:
- Pirates vs. Mermaids Camp – June 7-12: Rising second through eighth graders can imagine themselves as swashbuckling pirates or mythical mermaids as they dive into swimming and paddling adventures.
- Cowgirl Week – June 7-12: This camp for cowgirls offers visits to a horse rescue and sanctuary for girls to ride and learn all about horses. The experience is open to cowgirls entering fourth through eighth grade.
- Camper Sampler – Girls will have a chance to explore a mix of activities, from crafts and games to STEM and nature, helping them discover their favorite camp style. Rising fourth-fifth graders can select June 7-9, June 10-12 or July 12-14. Rising second-third graders can choose from June 14-16, June 17-19 and July 5-7. Rising sixth-eighth graders have June 21-23 or June 24-26 as options.
- Glamping – June 14-19: For campers who love a little glamour with their outdoor adventure, learn how to glam up your campsite while enjoying classic camp activities. Both overnight and day camp options are available. Day camp is open to rising first through eighth graders and overnight camp is open to second through eighth graders.
- Ultimate Scout – June 21-26: This week of adventure and challenges allows campers to build advanced skills and put them to the test. Activities include hiking, outdoor cooking, survival skills and friendly competition. Camp Tanasi Ultimate Scout is open to rising second through eighth graders.
- Wilderness Camp – June 21-26: This is a perfect fit for nature lovers who want to learn how to thrive in the great outdoors, with survival skills training, backcountry hiking and more. Open to rising eighth through tenth graders, campers participate in traditional camp activities as well as experiencing wilderness challenges.
- Classic Camp – July 5-9, July 12-16: Campers can choose a new adventure each day while making friends and creating lasting memories. Classic Camp is open to rising second through eighth graders.
- Tanasi Day Camp – July 6-9: This day camp delivers all the fun of summer camp without the overnight stay, featuring badge work, crafts, swimming, lakefront activities and more. Campers entering first through eighth grade can experience camp magic and still go home each night.
- Me and Mine – July 10-12: Campers share their favorite parts of camp with a loved one. Guardians or parents can join in activities like swimming, crafts, target sports and more. Me and Mine is open to rising first through eighth graders and their adults.
Girl Scout summer camps are open to current members, and non-members with an additional fee. Alternatively, campers can join when registering. Sessions begin June 7 and run through July 25, with both day camp and overnight options available. Camps are available for every level from Daisies and rising first-graders through 10th grade, as well as Counselor-In-Training opportunities for high schoolers.
Registration for all camps is now open at girlscoutcsa.org/summercamp. Camps fill up quickly and registration ends two weeks prior to the first day of each camp.
