There’s “snow” place like Downtown Knoxville for the holidays! Participate in an elf scavenger hunt, follow the Peppermint Trail, skate under the stars in Market Square and stay enchanted with so much more. It all begins Nov. 29 and continues through Jan. 5.
“Santa’s helpers at downtown businesses have been working hard to make the season merry and bright,” said Michele Hummel, executive director of the Downtown Knoxville Alliance. “Wrap up 2024 and celebrate through the new year with loved ones. There’s festive fun for all!”
“Yule” be sorry if you miss out on these activities planned by Downtown Knoxville Alliance and partners:
- Search for mischievous elves: The ninth annual The Elf on the Shelf® Adventure scavenger hunt is fun for kids and adults alike. Search for elves hiding in dozens of downtown shops and restaurants. North Pole Passes are available at Mast General Store and the Knoxville Visitors Center, both located on Gay Street. The first 5,000 participants will receive a special holiday stamp. Find 20+ elves and register for exciting prizes. Share your adventures with #ElvesInKnox to spread the holiday cheer!
- Peruse the Peppermint Trail: Follow the trail of peppermint decals on downtown sidewalks to discover holiday specials. You’ll find peppermint treats around almost every corner – along with gingerbread, cinnamon, cranberry, apple spice and other seasonal flavors. Boutiques and gift shops also are stocking peppermint-themed T-shirts, scented soaps, candles and other surprises.
- Skate at Holidays on Ice: Glide through the season on the City of Knoxville’s open-air ice rink in Market Square, open daily from Nov. 29-Jan. 5.
- Send a letter to Santa: Children can drop off their letters to Santa at the holiday mailbox in Market Square, designed by local artist Paris Woodhull. Letters should be posted by Christmas Eve to ensure a timely North Pole delivery.
- Check off your list: Check out Downtown Knoxville Alliance’s gift guides and shop small this holiday season. Plan to make one of the many holiday markets as well for handmade and homegrown gifts.
- Capture magical memories: Snap photos in front of photo ops at Market Square, including Peppermint Grove and the Knoxville Chamber and Knoxville Entrepreneur Center window. Seasonal décor and Strong Alley murals also make the perfect backdrop. Share your holiday cheer on social media with #lovedowntownknox.
