Finished display includes over 320 unique parts and over 72,000 LEGO bricks
Local LEGO builders will be debuting their massive LEGO recreation of the Henley Bridge at the BrickUniverse LEGO Fan Expo at the Knoxville Convention Center on August 26-27. The display is a group project of the Tennessee Valley LEGO Club and will be featured with a host of other massive LEGO displays at the show. The finished display, which is 20’ long and 3’ high, was constructed with over 72,000 individual LEGO pieces and more than 320 unique parts. The LEGO “water” alone consists of 20,000 dark blue LEGO tiles, which is currently double the worldwide supply available for sale.
The Tennessee Valley LEGO Club began the project to celebrate the completion of renovations to the actual bridge, which was performed from 2011-2014 and witnessed the bridge demolished down to its arches. With the help of reference materials supplied by the Tennessee Department of Transportation, 300 hours were invested in the design of the model beginning in the summer of 2014. Acquiring all the necessary pieces took a total of two and a half years. Construction began in July of 2017 and has required 250 man-hours to complete.
