As the founder and chief executive officer of East Tennessee’s premier public relations firm in 1992, Cynthia Moxley had a hand in all of the firm’s work for 30 years and now servs as a strategic consultant for the new owners, all four of whom served on her executive team. After a career in the newspaper business for over a decade and in the public relations business for another two decades, she has developed close personal relationships with business, political and civic leaders across East Tennessee and the state.

She is the author of the award-winning blog, The Blue Streak, and is recognized as a leader in social media. She has written two books about Knoxville. An unapologetic booster of Knoxville, Cynthia serves on the board and is past president of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. She also has served on the boards of the Knoxville Area Urban League, Clarence Brown Theatre, Friends of Literacy, WUOT-FM and the Executive Women’s Association, among others.

Cynthia formed Moxley Communications in 1992, changing the name to Moxley Carmichael in 1999 to reflect the addition of her business partner and husband, Alan Carmichael. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia. Cynthia and Alan live in downtown Knoxville with their calico cat, Rexie.
