Oct. 17, 2025

The Bijou Theatre will kick off its 2025-2026 Imagination Series with Billy Goats Gruff & Other Tales, a whimsical family performance by Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia designed to spark imagination and introduce young audiences to the magic of live theatre.

The first of three engaging performances in the series will be held Sunday, Oct. 19, at 2:30 p.m. Ideal for children ages 3-7 and their families, the 60-minute show brings together three beloved stories, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, The Three Little Pigs and The Three Billy Goats Gruff, in a single heartwarming adventure. The production features a brave raccoon and clever mouse who help classic characters navigate challenges, all while promoting themes of friendship, courage and creativity.

“The Imagination Series is one of the most joyful parts of our season,” Executive Director Courtney Bergmeier said. “We love seeing families experience the magic of live theatre together and Billy Goats Gruff & Other Tales is the perfect way to kick off a season full of creativity, laughter and connection.”

Tickets for Sunday’s performance are $18.50 for adults and $10 for children under 18. As part of the Penny4Arts initiative, 24 tickets are available for children in Knox County and surrounding counties for just one penny when accompanied by a paying adult. Tickets can be purchased online at https://knoxbijou.org/imagination/ or by phone at 865-684-1200.

The Bijou Theatre’s Imagination Series is a beloved Knoxville tradition, offering high-quality, family-friendly performances that inspire creativity and foster a lifelong love of the arts.
