Girl Scouts of Southern Appalachians will host an interactive event designed to introduce local girls to nursing through hands-on activities and engaging learning experiences.
The Ballad Health Nursing Badge Bash will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at East Tennessee State University Ballad Health Athletic Center located at 1081 John Robert Bell Drive. Registration closes Sept. 18.

The event is open to all girls in the community, and they do not need to be Girl Scout members to attend.
“We want to welcome all girls who are interested in learning more about nursing and healthcare,” said Lynne Fugate, CEO of the Girl Scout Council of Southern Appalachians. “Nursing and healthcare professionals make a meaningful difference in the lives of others and the community, which is a key principle for Girl Scouts.”
Participants will learn directly from local nurses and nursing students while practicing valuable skills related to first aid, healthy living, mental wellness, illness prevention and caring for common health concerns.
Girl Scout members can attend for $10 and will receive an Explore Nursing patch. There will also be an opportunity to earn two badges while learning about nursing careers, the important role nurses play in healthcare and the educational pathways available to those interested in becoming a nurse.
The event is being held in partnership with Ballad Health, East Tennessee State University College of Nursing, Emory & Henry University, Milligan University, Mountain Empire Community College, Northeast State Community College and Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology.
