U.S. Cellular highlights local youth through holiday giving program
Count on youth for inspiration this holiday season. Sixty-four percent of kids age 8-17 years old believe that kids can make a positive impact on the world, and 75 percent are interested in helping make their community a better place[1].
In support of Giving Tuesday, U.S. Cellular today announced Autumn Arsenault of Mentoring and Mending Using Songs in the Community and Joy of Music from Knoxville is one of 15 young humanitarians selected for the company’s 2017 The Future of Good program. The wireless carrier contributed $1,000 to Arsenault and Mentoring and Mending Using Songs in the Community to expand her work in support of music education. This is part of a total of $42,000 consisting of in-kind and monetary contributions to help youth continue building The Future of Good.
Arsenault was selected for this program by U.S. Cellular following a nationwide search, and she is featured on TheFutureOfGood.com to tell the unique story of how her cause is impacting the local community.
“I grew up playing the violin and piano. My love for music has shaped who I am as a person,” said Arsenault. “I am passionate about working with younger children to show them how music can change their lives. Playing an instrument teaches discipline, focus, and it relieves stress in a healthy and therapeutic way.”
“Autumn’s passion and commitment to empowering the community through music is truly inspiring,” said Nathan Waddell, U.S. Cellular director of sales for Tennessee. “She is setting an incredible example for her peers and community, and we are in awe of the selfless acts of good they’re doing here in East Tennessee.”
[1] These results are from an online survey conducted by YouGov on behalf of U.S. Cellular of 519 children ages 8-17 through their parents. The survey was fielded from November 9-13, 2017 with a margin of error of +/- 3%
