An 81-year-old Maryville resident suffering from memory impairment who was reported missing early Friday has been found safe shortly after 9 a.m. Betty Haste was located by an Asbury Place maintenance employee, who was involved in the search, in a nearby residential apartment where the occupant was out of town.
The Maryville Police Department and Blount County Sheriff’s Office and Asbury Place Maryville staff searched the buildings and grounds of the Asbury Place campus on Sevierville Road for Mrs. Haste, who was reported missing early Friday morning.
Mrs. Haste lives with her husband, who serves as her caregiver, in the campus’ residential apartment buildings.
“The health and safety of residents at Asbury Place is our top priority,” Asbury Place COO Marge Shonnard said. “We are grateful and very relieved that we were able to find her safe and unharmed. We appreciate the assistance of the Maryville and Blount County authorities.”

Betty Haste lives with her husband, who is her caregiver. Mrs. Haste and her husband reside in the campus’ residential apartment buildings.
Asbury Place staff and local authorities immediately launched a search of buildings and grounds at the Sevierville Road campus.
“Our first and foremost concern is Mrs. Haste’s well-being,” Asbury Place COO Marge Shonnard said. “We are fully cooperating with authorities during the search and serving Mrs. Haste’s family in this difficult time.”
