Asbury Place continuing care retirement communities recently named Dannie Dingus director of nursing for its Kingsport campus.
Dingus has more than 35 years of management, critical care and nursing home experience. He came to Asbury Place following a decades-long career with Wellmont Health System’s Holston Valley Medical Center and continues to occasionally work in cardiac care and rehabilitation at the hospital, recognizing that the work positively impacts his ability to perform his job at Asbury Place.
“We were delighted to find an individual with such a long and successful career in health care,” said Marjorie Shonnard, chief operating officer for Asbury Inc. “Dannie is a valued team member and trusted leader.”
Dingus earned his nursing degree from Walters State Community College and is pursuing a master’s degree in nursing from Vanderbilt University.
A lifelong Kingsport-area resident, Dingus says that being at Asbury Place is very rewarding because it provides the opportunity for him to contribute to the care of people he has known most of his life, including former school and church teachers.
Dingus is very active in the 4H program, the Arabian Horse Association and Shetland Sheep Association. He and his wife, Teresa, reside in Chuckey, Tenn., and have two children and eight grandchildren.
