Gastrointestinal Associates announced today that it will work with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to offer gastroenterology procedures – including colonoscopy screenings – to East Tennessee veterans.
This new relationship means that when the Mountain Home VA Medical Center has developed a backlog of endoscopic procedures, Gastrointestinal Associates will provide endoscopic services to ensure that veterans are served in a safe, effective and timely manner.
“We are committed to providing the highest quality of care for those who have provided the highest service to our country,” said Jeff Dew, CEO of Gastrointestinal Associates. “Obviously, the week of the Fourth of July is a time of year when we are naturally inclined to think about these heroes and their service to our country. But the reality is that their needs are ongoing, and we are honored to be able to serve in a way that will provide them with assistance throughout the year.”
Gastrointestinal Associates was approached directly by the Non-VA Care section of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs about assisting with their caseload. Non-VA Care is medical services provided to eligible veterans outside of VA facilities. Officials noted that what drew them to Gastrointestinal Associates was the depth of information they received from the practice, its website, and most importantly, the quality of care and overall patient satisfaction.
East Tennessee veterans will continue to interface with their local VA facility to initiate care. They should contact the VA for appointments and screenings, and then the VA will coordinate directly with GIA as treatment volume requires. If a veteran is scheduled to receive care from GIA, the VA will assist in providing directions and additional information.
