TENNESSEE THEATRE, BIJOU THEATRE TO SELL EVENT TICKETS VIA TICKETMASTER
Knoxville’s two historic downtown theaters, the Tennessee and Bijou theatres, announced today a new partnership with Ticketmaster, the national’s foremost online ticketing service, to improve the ticket purchasing experience for customers.
“Ticketmaster is the national leader in ticketing systems,” said Historic Tennessee Theatre Foundation Board President Vince Fusco. “Since its complete restoration in 2005, the Tennessee Theatre has sold more than one million tickets and has truly become the region’s leading entertainment venue. This partnership will further elevate our status as a top venue in the market.”
“The U.S. Cellular Stage at the Bijou Theatre brings special cultural and entertainment events to downtown Knoxville that promote excellence in the performing arts,” said Bijou Theatre Board President David Arning. “Ticketmaster’s easy-to-use online interface will help our customers more easily purchase tickets to enjoy this enriching entertainment.”
Ticketmaster offers an improved user experience by providing repeat ticket buyers with a personal account for managing ticket purchases and by allowing customers to select their seats using an interactive seating map for each venue.
The system also provides an enhanced mobile experience, including a mobile site optimized for smart phones and tablets, as well as a free mobile app available to Android and iPhone users. Ticket buyers will also have the option to select ticket delivery directly to their mobile phones bypassing will-call lines, as well as saving on print costs and paper waste.
“Being a part of a national ticketing network is the next step in Knoxville’s evolution to become a regional hub for excellent entertainment,” said Fusco. “Nothing changes for our guests except an enhanced online experience. Our guests will still be able to purchase tickets by phone, via the theaters’ websites, and at the box office.”
Beginning April 23, tickets to select shows will be available on www.ticketmaster.com. Tickets to all events presented by the Tennessee and Bijou theatres will still be available at the Tennessee Theatre box office on Clinch Avenue, by phone during business hours and on the websites of the respective theaters.
Ticketmaster, part of Live Nation Entertainment, has contracts with a national network of entertainment venues and sporting organizations across North America. These clients are among the more than 12,000 global Ticketmaster clients and span the entire spectrum of professional sports from football, baseball, hockey, motor sports and basketball and include college sports, major arenas and theatres.
