South College Asheville hosted a career fair Nov. 5 for its pending graduates and students in allied health and nursing programs with multiple companies in healthcare fields.

“There is growing demand for healthcare professionals in Western North Carolina, and we want to help our students identify potential opportunities before graduation,” South College Asheville President Dr. Samantha Sircey said. “This is a benefit for our students and also assists local employers develop the next generation of talent.”
More than 12 employer organizations participated in the career fair, including Broad River Rehab, Broughton Hospital, Catawba Valley Health System, Haywood Regional Medical Center, HCA Healthcare/Mission Hospital, Mercy Urgent Care, Prisma Health and UNC Health Blue Ridge.
The event featured on-site interviews, networking opportunities and tours showcasing the Asheville campus’ modern classrooms, educational tools and laboratories.
Students also received guides on dressing for success, preparing resumes and turning connections into opportunities.
“We take pride in effectively preparing our graduates for the workforce, but we also strive to grow local partnerships that assist our students and help meet local demand for professionals in healthcare and beyond,” Sircey said.
South College Asheville provides associate, bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in various healthcare disciplines, such as Health Science, Imaging Science, Physician Assistant, Nursing, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physical Therapist Assistant, Respiratory Therapy, Medical Assisting and Surgical Technology.

The institution also offers professional paths outside of the healthcare field with associate and bachelor level programs in business and legal studies.
