- Filing taxes: There are several free apps to help file taxes and track refunds, such as H&R Block Tax Prep and File and Intuit TurboTax. With straightforward questions and easy prompts, these apps help guide users through the process of filing taxes.
- Managing personal finances: Mint makes it easy to manage money by syncing multiple banking and credit card accounts for real-time tracking of income and expenses, budgeting and subscription monitoring – all for free. Most financial institutions also offer apps to track balances, transfer funds and other mobile banking functions, as well as wireless payment options.
- Budgeting: You Need a Budget, or YNAB to fans, is an app dedicated to budgeting and helping users pay down debt. While membership requires a small monthly or annual fee of $98, the app is free to download, and the service offers a money-back guarantee. The app lets users sync their banking information, view real-time expense tracking, use a loan calculator and planner tool and track goals.
- Documenting expenses: Documenting expenses via digital images of receipts and tracking mileage is simple with the Expensify or Shoeboxed CamScanner can be used for other important documents, such as financial statements and loan documents, that need to be stored digitally. Using the smartphone’s camera, CamScanner scans, saves, archives and uploads files, which also can be synced to multiple devices such as a home computer or laptop.
